The mystery measure of the session, the "13" or Mortgage Final Adjustment Bill, which receives hourly Ministerial reference in the House, was again the subject of inquiry by members during the' Mortgage Corporation Bill debate yesterday, when one or two hints as to the nature of the proposals to be submitted were dropped by the Minister ot Finance, Mr. Coates. The Minister suid that "the second bill to ciiine down" would deal with the adjustment of mortgages. Mr. F. Langstone (Labour. Wainiarino): When will we see that bill? Mr. Coates: Von will see it as soon as the House gets it. Mr. Langistone: Your party has had it Mini discussed it. Government Members: Oh, no. Mr. Coates: The next bill will provide for the means by which adjustments can be made between the mortgagor and the mortgagee. The Minister added that the Government would sec that the Act wae administered sympathetically. Mr. W. Nash (Labour, Ilutt) : Will that apply to houses? Mr. Cgatns: It applies to rural advances only. Mr. Nash: Nothing for householders? Mr. Coates: We will see when the other bill conies down. Mr. Samuel: Are we supposed to be psychic as far as the next bill is concerned '! Mr, Coiites: Well, if you have that quality, that i« another matter. Mr. Parry suggested that the Minister would be giving nothing away if he took the House into his confidence and told it the effect of the second bill. "We don't want to turn this place into a secret society," he said. A Labour Member: What docs the next bill deal with ? Mr. Coates: Rehabilitation. A Labour Member: Of the worker? Mr. Coates: It is not exactly the same problem.
