BUSINESS BRIGHTENS UP. BIG LIST OF SALES. After a quiet spell, business on the Auckland Stock Exchange had a sudden spurt yesterday, and a big list of sales was put through at ihe afternoon call and again at the first call this morning. Sales covered a fair range, with banks prominent. At this morning's call New Zealands' were steady between £2 9/ and £2 9/4, and Reserve's from £6 0/6 to £0 11/6. There was a fair inquiry for insurances, and New Zealands moved up to buyers at £3 7/3 and sellers 9d higher. The' coal section attracted attention. Renown, so.ld Dd better, at S/6, and a parcel of Pukerniros was transferred 6d cheaper, at £1 07. Waihis continued firm between £2 1/ and £2 1/9. Government stocks were in good demand, but there were few sellers. Quiet at Noon. The active spell did not last long, and only a Email list of sales was recorded at the noon call. There was some activity in Wilsons Cement, but values were unchanged at £1 14/. Commercial Banks eased slightly, with quotations from 15/11 to 16/3.
