TE AROHA RAID.
PROBABLE PROSECUTIONS. EFFECTS DISCUSSED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE AROHA, this day. Xo date has been fixed for the Court proceedings which are to follow the police raid on Friday night. The matter is in the hands of the Police Department at Hamilton. It is understood that all the participants in the alleged "Calcutta" draw whose names were taken will be reqnired to answer a charge of a breach of the Gaming Act. Consequently those who escaped from the Maeqnic Hall by means of the windows—and there were quite a number—are congratulating themselves. It is considered that in the event of a conviction beinjr entered against all the men the Waikato and Ohinemuri race meetings will be detrimentally affected, both in attendance and totalisator turnover.
