LATE MR. F. COSSEY.

RESPECTED DRURY PIONEER,

FUNERAL THIS AFTERNOON.

The funeral of the late Mr. Frederick Cossey, aged 88, who died of injuries received when he was knocked down by a motor car on. Sunday morning, took place this afternoon at Drury. There was a- large attendance of relatives and friends.

The funeral , left the residence of Mr. Cossey's daughter, Mrs. Angus, 45, Mountain Road, Mount Albert, at two o'clock this afternoon for the Anglican Cemetery at Drury. Mr. Goosey had been a highly respected member of the Drury district, where he farmed for 50 years. By mistake there was published in our issue yesterday a photograph of Mr. Frederick Cossey's cousin, Mr. J. Cossey, of Drury, Thia mistake is keenly regretted. The photograph published to-day is a splendid likeness of Mr, Cossey as he was when he died.

MRS. SARAH E. WILLETTS. The death occurred at Thames Hospital on February 22 of Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth' Willetts, at the great age of 97 years. She was one of the early residents of the goldfields'and used to recall the growth of the Thames township from tents to wooden structures. Born in England, Mrs. Willetts, when a young girl, was taken to South Africa by her parents, where later she was married to 'Mr. William Phillips, who died about 55 years ago. They arrived in Auckland iii 1804, and when three years later the Thames goldfield was opened they joined the first rush to the new El Dorado. Mr.-. Phillips subsequently was married to Mr. William Willetts, who died 15 years ago.

MRS. AMELIA M. WEBB. A resident of Otahuhu for the last 3fi years, Mrs. Amelia Margaret Webb, has' died, aged 80 years. She was torn at St. Helier'fi, Jersey, being a daughter of thf> late Mr. and Mrs. Philip Gaudin. The family panic to Xew Zealand in 1871. lived for three years at Oamaru, and then went to Martin's Bay, on the west coast of Otago, where Miss Gaudin was married to the late Mr. William Webb. Subsequently Mr. and Mrs. Webb lived at Wellington before coming to Auckland. Mr. Webb died about 17 years ago. She is survived by two daughters. Mif=« K. S. Webb and Mrs. A. J. Blythe, both of whom live at Otahuhu.

MR. MURRAY WISEMAN. A well-known Auckland resident, Mr. Murray Wfconian, died suddenly at Rotonia on February 22, aped OS years. He retired a few years ago from active participation with the firm of -T. Wiseman and Sons, Ltd. In his earlier years Mr. Wiseman was a keen yachtsman, and to the last retained his interest in sport. Ho is survived by lire. Wiseman.

MR. ARTHUR GYLES. (By Telegraph.—Pross Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The death has occurred of Mr. Arthur Gyles. He was a keen chess player and represented Wellington in telegraphic matchers. He was al*o a prominent bowler. He was born in London and came to Xγw Zealand ■"><! years ago. Later he founded a printing business.

MR. W. E. McLEAN. (By Telegraph. — Press Association.) DUXEDIX, this day. The death has occurred of Mr. William Ernest McLean, aged 52, the manager of the Co-operative Dairy Co. For years he was town clerk at Mosgicl and later Mayor of that place.

MR. REES JONES. (By Telegraph.-— Press Association.) GISBORNE, Monday. Mr. Kces Jones, a well-known resident and formerly a prominent sculler, died suddenly this morning, aged 57.
