CAR STRIKES JIGGER.

ACCIDENT AT CROSSING.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, Monday. An accident, which might easily have resulted in a, fatality, occurred on Friday evening at the Piriaka low level crossing, when a motor car driven by Mr. R. Blair, of National Park, collided with a railway jigger ridden by Mr. W. Miles, of Taumarunui. Mr. Miles was returning to his hut at Piriaka from Manunui and Mr. Blair stopped his car to allow the jigger to pass. The car, however, bounded forward and knocked Mr. Miles and the jigger off the line. Mr. Miles escaped hijTiry, but the jigger was badly damaged.
