The Editor suggests
SHORT STORY COMPETITION
Entries for our January short story competition were heavy and the standard of the work received particularly high. In the final selection the judges were faced with two storfes of almost equal merit from which to pick the winner. Finally it was decided to award the prize to El:ia Flavell, 49, Wilson Street, Hawera, age 17, for her tale "The Grand Vizier's Secret," whilst the other story, "Little Feet," from the pen of Ruth Park, 78, Sandringham Road, Mount Albert, will appear in "Enzed Junior."
Stories from the following writers have been very highly commended and will all receive prizes on publication:—Phyllis Hughes, Feilding, age 16; Jean Clewer, Wellington, age 14; Monica Naughton, Taumarunui, age 16; Monica Matheson, Devonport, age 17; Esme Peacocke, Epsom, age IS; Noelle Macdonald, Howick, age 17; Nancy Harvey, Takapuna; Tim Gill, Sandringham, age 17; Cedric Short, Mount Eden, age 15.
