NEWTON'S NEED.

REQUEST FOR SWIMMING POOL

Bringing under the council's notice the need of a swimming pool in the Newton district, a letter was received from the secretary of the Newton district schools committee last night. He stated he had been instructed to advise the City Council that his committee was of the opinion that the Ponsonby Reservoir site, would bo very suitable and was an urgent acquisition to the district for the purpose mentioned. It was decided to reply that the suggestion would be supported if the Ponsonby reservoir was abandoned for waterworks purposes.
