WEEK-END PICNICS.

RETURNED SOLDIERS,

The second annual picnic of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association and affiliated clubs, held at Redwood Turk, Swanson, yesterday, was attended by 3000 people, many of whom travelled by the four special trains engaged. The outing was highly successful. The Ist Auckland Regimental Band was in attendance and comprehensive sports programmes were provided. The annual picnic of Heard's, Limited, manufacturing confectioners, Parnell, was held at Motuihi on Saturday. Over 'H'O employees travelled by special steamer to the resort, where an enjoyable day was spent. There was an interesting sports programme. >

There were over 500 people at the annual picnic of the New Zealand Co-operntive Dairv Company at Motuihi Island. ALFRED BUCAXAND & SONS, LTD,

'The staff of Messrs. Alfred Buekland and Sons, Ltd.. held their annual picnic at Ferndalc on Saturday. A highly successful function was well attended by members and their friends, and a lengthy programme of races and sports was carried out during the day. The feature of the day was as tug of "war between the office and storemen, resulting in a very easy win for the clerks, with two straight pulls.

GAS COMPANY.

Employees of the Auckland Gas Company, Limited, visited Redwood Park, Swan son, on Saturday afternoon, on the occasion of the firm's annual picnic. Over 700 people travelled to the park in a special train. Organised sports and games were held and toys were distributed to a large number of children.
