THE ROYAL MOUSTACHE.
H.M. the King recently expressed a wish (which of course amounts to a command) that officers of the guards regiments should again wear moustaches. It followed, of course, that officers, other than those of the guards, also revived the fashion. The Duke of Gloucester, a hussar officer, who now wears a moustache, has set the fashion among young New Zealand men for the restoration of this ornament. List, oil list, oh fellow friskere, Hidden under stooks of whiskers, List ye hirsute sons of Empire, Strop that razor for the fra.v; Heap the all-surrounding stubble, Do it now —and at the double. Clear your dials of needless herbage, Sweep that facial fur away; yea! Eliminate your beaver, ]5e you squatter or coallioaver. Exercise the ziff you've treasured For a century or so. Be not bearded, be not kingly, Cultivate your beauty singly, Ami reward your patient features. With a princely little " mo." Show your loyalty to royalty (Hence these few poetic hints), Crow a military mo, So that everywhere you go Folks are really bound to fancy you're a prince. Shave that clinging old chinchilla That so long has pressed your pillow. Drop the dundrearies you've treasured for
an age; Do not copy Mnssolini (Barefacotl as his own bambini), Though the fashion is at present all the rage, Be loyal and be royal. Do not hesitate or wince. But grow a mo exactly like the Prince. Shall we purchase hair restorer for the fray, To compete with dukes and princes, brothers? Yea! We'll consult with the best barbers that we know, They will give us their prescriptions, And some adequate description Of the kind of little mo we'd love to grow. So the mos (extinct no longer). Will emerge much finer—stronger, And the lips of John ami Hore of all tints, May burgeon—yea, shall flourish, As we cherish tliem and nourish The fashion kindly set us by the Prince. —C.J.
