DEVONPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Devonport Borough Countii met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. H. F. W. Meikle presiding. Life-saving Gear.—When additional bathing accommodation is under consideration the application of the North Shore Amateur Swimming and Life-Saving Club for room for a life-saving reel and gear at Cheltenham Beach will be further discussed. Christmas Day Pictures.—Subject to the provision of a suitable programme, the management of the Victoria Theatre will be permitted to screen pictures on Christmas Day. Building Subsidy.—The Unemployment Board is to be asked to reconsider its decision regarding the required subsidy for municipal buildings, in view of the fact that Devonport's intention was to provide accommodation for the Plunket Society, and the council did not consider the council chambers t« be a revenueproducing building. St. John Funds.—A donation of £2 2/ was voted to the funds of the St. John Ambulance Association. Resident's Contribution.—A contribution ot £6 2/6 towards the cost of a bus shelter was forwarded from residents of Narrow Neck. Fire Brigade Sports—Owing to the date of November 10 clashing with the requirements of cricketers, the annual sports of the Volunteer Fire Brigade are now to bo held on the Devonport Domain on December 1.
