GIRLS IN BUSH. MANY SEARCHERS OUT. LOST IN THE RUAHINES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, this day. No trace lias yet been discovered of the two young women, Misses Olive Phillips (22) and liallie Standfield (18), who have been missing in the Ruahine Ranges sincc Monday afternoon. A search party late yesterday thought they heard a girl reply to their calls. The party camped for the night, intending to resume their search at daylight.
Another party set out early this morning from Tereliunga and it is understood that many searchers are also out on the Pohangina side. Fortunately the weather has been fine since the girls disappeared. The days have been bright and sunny, but the nights have been cold. The missing girls, who are daughters of well known settlers, set out on Monday with a number of friends to spend the day in the mountains. When fhe main party left for hon/e at 2 p.m. the two girls decided to tramp over the intervening country to the Pohangina Valley. As they did not arrive a search party set out at 8 p.m. on Monday, but returned early yesterday morning. When they left the main party the girls, who were clothed in long trousers and woollen jerseys carried only a little food.
Another search party went out yesterday morning, equipped with dogs and guns. Later a second party, including Miss Phillips' brother, ftet out, and in the afternoon a private aeroplane, piloted by Mr. B. J. McXicol, made a flight over the locality without seeing the girls.
