HOW THE PRIZES WERE AWARDED.

So popular was the scribble picture competition arranged in the "Star Twinkles" of October 13 that I am sure everyone will be eagerly looking forward to the results which are announced to-day.

considerably more that 35 were not included in the final judging. Don Hewson and Mervyn Allen must possess very sharp eyesight, for their entries of 35 objects were entirely correct, earning for them the first two places on the prize list. Noel Bollard and George and Doris Skinner each had 35 out of 36 objects correct. In accordance with our rule that no more than one cash prize may go to the same family for any one competition the last two competitors were bracketed for fourth place. Entries containing thirty-four correct objects out of original lists of thirty-five earned the next two places. Two girls and a boy were in the running for the two half-crowns that were still to be awarded, each having two mistakes in a 36-word contribution. Preference was given to the younger entrants.

Judging by some of the lists of objects supposed to have been hidden by the artist, one would say that the original picture was very much larger than four inches wide by five inches deep, for there were numbers of boys and girls who would have us believe that more than one hundred things were hidden away beneath the scribble. Our friend, the artist, however, carefully prepared a list of the objects drawn before he scribbled over them and they numbered exactly thirty-five.

The competition was, of course, an observation test, and so we felt that entries containing too many objects that did not appear should be disqualified, and consequently those whose original lists numbered very
