ST. HELIER'S CLUB. Five ncw grass courts wore used for Hie lirst time l\v the St. Ilclier's Tenuis Club on Monday. The courts were laid down by the City Council during the winter months and are situated on the St. Jielicr's reserve. A hard court is ulso in use. The club was officially opened on Saturday afternoon by the president, Mr. 11. J. Cooper. There was a large attendance of members, Including a number of Inundation members. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies. A flannel dance and social was held in the evening. THE AOTEA CLUB. The members of (lie Anton Tennis Club t ujoyed president's day at the courts last Saturday, when they were the guests of Mr. and' Mrs. K. I'egler. Winners of tournaments conducted during the afternoon Tennis, Miss Iv Iturns and Mr. CI. Hull ; table tennis. Miss K. Harrier and Mr. G. Graham: bagatelle, Miss M. Warin and Mr. F. llaucli. HENDERSON CATHOLIC CLUB. The official opening of the Holy Cross Catholic Church Tennis Club, Henderson, took place on Monday, in the presence of a large assembly. The ceremony was performed by the president, Father Colgan. who welcomed visitors from Henderson and city clubs, and expressed good wishes for the club's future success. The lirst ball was played by the vice-president, Dr. it. Uobb. The club was organised ,lust a year ago with one court, and a small number of members which lias since increased to A new court is to he opened within the next month. MOUNT RICHMOND CLUB. The official opening of the Mount Richmond Tennis Club's tennis courts in the municipal abattoir grounds at Wcstticld took place 011 Monday afternoon, there being a large attendance of members and visitors. The president of the club, Mr. K. \Y. Rugg, being indisposed, Mr. ,T. K. Gillies introduced Mr. Grey Campbell, chairman of (lie Public Services Committee of the Auckland City Council, who congratulated the members on the excellence of the courts and the formation of the club. Mrs. Grey Campbell hit the first hall over the net and the courts were declared officially open. A tournament was l'.eld during the afternoon, Mr. 13. Rugg and Miss N. Burrill gaining a victory in the Hnal over J. McDell and Mrs. Tarry. MATAMATA CLUB. The final games in the men's handicap and championship doubles competition, which were hold over by the Matamata Club from last season, were decided on Monday. Scores:- — Championship Doubles. —Iv. Fitzgerald and E Watte boat Keeley and Mac Donald, (5—3, 4—G, 7—5. , >r Handicap Doubles.—Keeley and MacDonald beat Fitzgerald and Waite, 6—l, o—3.0—3. Both pairs were on the same mark.
