A special feature was the inter-liouse competition, teams representing (lie dairy factory. ambulance and rowing club. The axemen's events were well contested. X. Agnew (Rotorua) won the standing chop, and the veteran Ike Stephen (Kaimai) won the underhand chop from four competitors, two of whom were his sons. Results: in interhouse events :— 100 Yards. —-Grey (dairy) 1, Smith (ambulance) 2, Densem (ambulance) 3. Won by two yards. Tug-of-War.—Rowing defeated ambulance, and dairy defeated ambulance for second place. Obstacle Itace. —Grey (dairy) 1, Densem (ambulance) 2, Ouston (dairy) 3. Relay.—Dairy 1, Ambulance 2, Rowings. <220 Yards.—Grey (dairy) 1, Smith (ambulance) 2, Bradley (dairy) 3. Six started. Won by two yards. Hobbled Race.—-Wilson (rowing) 1, Marshall (dairy) 2, Cameron (rowing) 3. Dairy won the shield with 42 points, ambulance and rowing having 24 each. Some 300 people watched the weekly meeting of the Papatoetoe Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club at the Papatoetoe stadium last evening. A. Mclnnarney, one of the new junior cyclists, rode well in his first race last evening off 00yds in the half-mile cycle race. Mclnnarney attained second place in heat and first in the final.
