HIS ONE REPLY.
r COME AND SEE ME." MINISTER'S INVITATION. j WAY OF ANSWERING QUESTIONS. j(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Importer.) 1 v WELLINGTON, this day. A variation of a saying which has inade an American film actress famous Jwas frequently employed in the House of Representatives this morning by the Hon. J. Bitcliener, ■who, in response to a shower of inquiries, invited members to "come and see him in his office in jthe morning'."
Mr. Bitchener was in the unenviable position of having to pilot through the estimates of Departments belonging to the Postmaster-General, Mr. Hamilton, jvho is absent on sick leave, and as acting-Minister Lad to bear the brunt of a bombardment of inquiries respecting various items of expenditure and to answer questions touching the future administration. His replies were cast in an identical pattern. To each inquiry lie suggested that the member should interview him on the following day. After several of these answers had been given Mr. A. E. Ansell (Government, Chalmers) raised a point concerning his own electorate, and he was advjsed by Mr. P. Fraser (Labour, Wellington pentrai) to interview the Minister on ifche following morning. Mr. Ansell: There will be too much pf a queue. Mr. W. J. Jordan (Labour, Manukau): Gome up and see me some time. (Prolonged .laughter.) Undeterred by Mr. Jordan's witticism, jthe Minister continued to extend his (invitations.
