TRACK GALLOPS.
TRIALS AT TE RAPA. TRADESMAN GOES WELL. STAR ARTIST IX GOOD FETTLE. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") HAMILTON", this day. Conditions, after breakfast, were ideal for training operations at To Rapa this .morning, when the local candidates for the Auckland meeting were sent along. Several smart efforts were recorded, the best halfmile of the morning being that of Tradesman. The course proper, with the poles 45ft out, was used for all fast work.
Star Artist, Royal Artist and the Legalit}' colt were early on the scene, Star Artist being the only one sent along. She hit out well over six furlongs, but owiii" to the thick fog, which enveloped the course at the time, it was impossible to time her. Star Artist is looking a picture, but may be a better prospect on the second day with a race into her. Gay Seton and Sinking Fund were associated 9vci' half a mile in 525. Both hit out freely and are in good heart for engagements ahead. Rippling Waters and Adalene reached the half-mile peg in 52 l-ss. Rippling Waters appeared io be loafing somewhat at the end, and Adalene was shading her at the finish. Euby Meteor encompassed a circuit in 2.7 3-j, the last seven in 1.36. The best trial of the morning was that of Tradesman, who slipped over five furlongs in 1.5, the fiivit half-mile in 51 2-ss. It was a smart effort on the part of the Raceful gelding, and ona that will increase his admirers for Filers' lie. Anagram and Respectful were practically on terms at the end of five furlongs, with Joyzelle and King Rey following at intervals. They registered 1.6 2-5, the last half-mile in 52 4-ss.
Luminary (J. Day), who looks an improved horse since his Paeroa outing, schooled impressively over a round of the hurdles. lie jumped in slashing style and should give a good account of himself in the Manukau Hurdles on the scc-ond day. He is to have the services of J. Day.
Riding Engagements. J. Day will ride La Fenimc Xoire: T. Green, King Brierly. Havering and Hikutaia; E. LudJow, Rippling Waters; H. Long, Chief Cook and Aubretia; A. Gilmer, Ruby Meteor (second day); and B. Sullivan, Dark Marble and Emancipation (second day).
