WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION.
BIRKENHEAD ACTIVITIES. The president, Mrs. W. B. Darlow, presided at the Birkenhead Women's Association's monthly meeting. Appreciation was recorded of the efficient services of Mrs. R. R. Hay man as secretarytreasurer for tlio past two years, and the regret occasioned by her inability to continue in office. Mrs. A. E. Wood gave a resume of the business of the National Council of Women. The view was endorsed that the National Council should refrain from taking part in local polities, in respect of the invitation to appoint two mem-' bers to the citizens' committee. Miss Anne Willis explained the position regarding the proposal to establish a public library at Birkenhead. A musical programme, which was greatly enjoyed, included songs and trios by Miss Gwenda Weir, Messrs. H. Davis, and J. Ramsey, and duets by Miss Weir and Mr. Ramsey. The accompaniments were played by Mrs. J. Letcher and Mr. Alan Power. A dramatic presentation followed of J. M. Barrie'n one-act play, " The Old Lady Shows Her Medals," produced by the senior members of the recently formed group of the dramatic reading circle of the association. The parts were taken by Mesdames A. E. Wood, Stanley Mills, J. Leahy, R. Norton, C. E. Gill and R. O. White.
