METHODIST CHURCH.
AUCKLAND EAST CIRCUIT,
The Rev. E. D. Patchett presided over an attendance of 55 members of the Auckland East Methodist Circuit, at the Espoin Church on Monday evening. The membership returns showed a gratifying increase of 26 senior members during the past quarter, the total returned being 880. The financial returns for the quarter were also very satisfactory, the income exceeding the expenditure by over £20. It was resolved to ask the youth department to make full inquiries into the comparative figures relating to morning and afternoon classes for Sunday school and Bible classes. It was reported that the annual effort for foreign missions was not yet complete, the amount to hand so far being £246 2/7. A generous offer o£ a substantial amount for church extension work was gratefully acknowledged. A hearty and unanimous invitation was extended to Rev. E. D. Patchett to remain a. fifth year in the circuit. Unanimous invitations were also given Rev. F. Parker and Rev. W. Walker to Mount Eden and Remuera respectively. All these invitations were accepted, subject to approval of next conference. Messrs. R. J. Adlington, W. McKay, W. Ambury and A. Williams were elected to represent the circuit at the forthcoming Auckland Synod, with Misses Rishworth and Buttle and Mr. Newsome as substitutes. The Rev. G. Frost congratulated the Orphanage Board on the Auckland orphanages having attained their twentyfirst birthdayand recommended these for the cordial support of all Methodists. Next meeting will be held at Newmarket on January 13. CENTRAL CIRCUIT. A record attendance of 70 members was present at the quarterly meeting of the Methodist Church Central Circuit. Rev. Wm. Walker presided. Foreign mission finance showed an advance in contributions on last year, while Dominion Road Church was complimented on its one-day effort in raising £150, the final payment on the Sunday school hall. Encouraging Sunday school returns were submitted, showing a better average attendance. A special committee reported that a site had been secured at Cambrai Avenue for the Roskill-Sandring-ham parsonage. A special combined trust was appointed with power to build and furnish same. Information given to the meeting showed that Pitt Street Shops Trust since its inception had donated over £11,000 for church extension purposes. Unanimous invitations were given to the Rev. T. Olds, for Pitt Street Church, the Rev. R. B. Tinsley, for the fifth year at Dominion Road Church, and the Rev. S. J. Werren, for the third year at Kingsland Church. The following representatives were appointed to the Synod to be held on November 21:—Mrs. Dyer and Messrs. Halsteml. Rhodes. Hutson. Crimp and Joiner. Mr. 11. Crimp was reappointed a local preacher and Mr. Xeil Moffott on trial.
