WOMEN ARE BRAVE.
A coroner in England has made the observation that women were much braver than men in facing operations. He was referring to a woman of 52 who, before going into hospital, got up early, and did her weekly washing. Probably, most people will be inclined to agree with the coroner. We all know the cases of the strong men who wilt at the idea of facing a dentist. Probably it is the same in regard to major operations. But "women's greater fortitude is not a matter of insensibility to pain, as men are apt to imagine. Bather is it that women have a. spirit of quiet resignation allied to courage, and they can better face the inevitable without creating any fuss. . Another side of the question is that although men will perform acts of .great courage, more often than not it is when the eyes of others are upon them. But it is when a woman is alone and suffering that her bravery and courage are generally at their height, I
