DYING GIRL.
UNDER A HEDGE.
DISCOVERY AT HERNE' BAY.
POST-MORTEM ORDERED,
A girl was found early last evening lying under a hedge near the foot of Hamilton Road, Heme Bay. She was in a state of collapse, and died at the Auckland Hospital later in the evening. The girl was Miss Lottie Spittlehouse, aged IS years, whose parents live in Scott Street, I'onsonby. The discovery was made by a resident of Hamilton Road, who had gone to the Leach to put his dinghy out. He saw what he thought was a blue coat under a hedge and with a neighbour investigated. They found that it was a girl, and her condition was such that the police and an ambulance were called. When the ambulance arrived the girl was carried to it in a blanket by three Ponsonby residents, a constable and the ambulance driver. Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., as coroner, to-day opened the inquest, which was adjourned so that a post-mortem can be made.
