PACIFIC CHAMPION. BRITISHER S P ROMINENT. SAN FRANCISCO, October 8. The Pacific Coast lawn tennis tournament was continued at Berkeley. Results:— Men's Singles. —Final: P. J. Perry (Britain) defeated Budge (California), 3—o, o—4, 7—5, I—6, 7—5. Women's Singles.—Final: Miss K. Stammers (Britain) defeated Miss P. James (Britain), 3—6, 6-4, 6—3. Women's Doubles.—Final: Misses James and Nuthall (Britain) defeated Misses Raegener and Osborne, 6—3, 6—2. Men's Doubles.—Final: Budge and Mako beat Stratford and Necr, 6—3, B—6, 3—<s, 6—l. CRAMM BEATS NUSSLEIN. BERLIN, October 8. G. von Cramm, the German amateur lawn tennis champion, beat Hans Nueslein, the professional champion of the world, 5—7, 6—3, 6—3. 6—l. GRAMMAR CLUB. Fine weather marked the opening of the Grammar Tennis Club for the season 1934-35. The ceremony was performed by the club president, Mr. D. R. Macdonald, and the trophies won during last season were presented to the successful competitors by Mr. T. E. Hickson, president of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association. Mr. Hicksou congratulated the club on Its reafflliatlon to the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association. An exhibition game was given by four A grade players, Messrs. Griffiths, Partridge and the Wilson brothers. During the afternoon a progressive tournament was run, the winners being Miss R. Chapman and Mr. J. K. Ferguson. The courts are in excellent condition, and a good standard of play is expected throughout the new season. VICTORIA CLUB. In ideal conditions the Victoria Tennis Club (Devonport) held its official opening on Saturday. The president, Mr. Keelcy, in thanking Mrs. A. Webster for the work she had done for the club, bestowed upon her the honour of the first life membership. She hit the opening ball.
