DEATH FROM SPIRITS.
WOMAN'S DEPRESSED STATE. EVIDENCE AT INQUEST. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE KUITI, this day. A married woman, Charlotte Ann Bo wen, aged 35, died in Te Kuiti Hospital yesterday, where she was admitted the previous day. An inquest was held before Sir. R. M. Somerville this ingThe husband, John James Bowen, farmer, of Waikawau, deposed that his wife enjoyed good health until two months ago, but then became depressed. She made no complaint until three days ago. She had assisted with the milking 011 Wednesday morning, leaving the shed early to prepare breakfast. On his arrival at the house he found hc«r with a small bottle to her mouth. He snatched this from her. There were two children, aged four and six. Witness said his wife was a native of England. The evidence of neighbours showed that the family relationships had been happy. After; the hearing of medical evidence a verdict was returned that death was caused by spirits of salts, self-adminis-tered, while deceased was in a state of depression.
