GERMS OF WAR.

BALKAN TENSION.

SERIOUS SITUATION. Antagonism Between Italy and Yugoslavia. ANGLO-FRENCH ANXIETY. (United P.A.—Elcctric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, September 25. The "Daily Mail" Rome correspondent says that Italian and Yugoslavian relations are tense owing to Yugoslav irredentist meetings ridiculing the Italian army and praising terrorists guilty of the murder of Italians as heroes. Priests state that it is the duty of Yugoslavs to proclaim a holy war against Italy. The situation is likely to affect the efforts for the FrancoItalian rapprochement as Yugoslavia is allied to France. The "Sydney Sun"-"Melbourne Herald" representative says that antagonisms between Italy and Yugoslavia are regarded so seriously in London that Britain, after to-day's Cabinet meeting, immediately made representations to Rome and Belgrade. The French will make similar representations . when King Alexander of Yugoslavia shortly visits Paris. Afterwards M. Bartliou will go to Rome in an endeavour to ease the atmosphere. It is felt in London that with Europe's present mood the difference between Italy and Yugoslavia may have serious repercussions. There is evidently no substantial issue, merely a recurrence of antagonisms causing a fierce campaign by each country's, officially inspired newspapers.
