TROTTING.

THAMES CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual report of the Thames Trotting C'lub states that though the meeting was highly successful from a social and racing point of view, a loss of £278 14/5 resulted. The sum of £895 was given in stakes, and the Government received £81)0 8/10 in taxation. Messrs. McKendrick Bros., who gave the trophy for'the ladies' bracelet at the last meeting, had generously donated a similar trophy for next meeting. The general account showed a debit of £02 17/7. The depreciation written off amounted to £118 18/10, making a total loss for the year of £400 10/10. The club, however, had an excess of assets of £1381 4/2. The committee made application for two days for the coming season, but owing to the limited number of permits only one day—March 30—was granted, but this date had also been given to the Manawatu Club. A portion of the rebate was expended in altering the 6teps and entrance to the members' stand, and in providing extra railing round the track to confine the sheep to the inside of the course. A Dingwell patent starting barrier had been ordered, and this would be installed prior to the next meeting. The issue of complimentary tickets to the general public I was eliminated, and a slight increase shown in the gate receipts. The totalisator figures also compared very favourably with any ono day last year. In accordance with the rules the president, vice-president, stewards and four members of the committee retire. Nominations were called for the respective oflices, but little interest was shown. As the nominations do not exceed the vacancies an election will not bo necessary, and in some cases the committee will have to fill the vacancies. WAIKATO TROTTING CLUB. In the Stewards' Handicap, to be run at the Waikato Trotting Club's meeting, Great Churn is on 24yds, not limit.
