FOUNDING OF MORRINSVILLE. i •" ■ ____ OCTOBER CELEBRATIONS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ; MOREINSVILLE, Thursday. In connection with Morrinsville's approaching diamond jubilee, a representative public meeting was held last evening, over which the Mayor, Mr. W. T. Osborne, presided. It was decided to celebrate ,the diamond jubilee of. the settlement of the Morrineville district and thegoMen jubilee'.of the opening of the railway to Morrinsville • by holding .appropriate functions, commencing on Thursday, October 25, and concluding on Sunday, October 28. The district owes its name to the Morrin family, who took up many thousands of acres of land in 1874. The functions on October 25 will include the opening of the new Borough Council chambers, a reunion of old settlers, and a jubilee bali. The town will be en fete on the Friday evening, when a carnival night is to be held. The other functions include a sports day on Saturday, and a combined religious service on the Sunday.
