CONSERVING SUPPLIES. "In a survey made in 1923 by the Government it was hinted that the supply of kahikatea would last seven years, but this survey must have been hopelessly wrong, as the timber would have been worked out long ago," said Mr. A. E. Robinson at yesterday's meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Farmers' "Union. It was mentioned that kahikatea was still being.exported, and in view of the possibility later on of New Zealand having to import timber for making butter boxes, a resolution was carried urging the Government to conserve its present bush areas for New Zealand use only.
