CRICKET.
A.U.F.S. ASSOCIATION. FIRST ANNUAL MEETING. At the first annual general meeting of the Auckland United Friendly Societies' Cricket Association, Mr. W. G. Caddy, chairman of the provisional control board, presided over an attendance of twenty delegates. He referred to the splenuid preliminary work done, with the co-opera-tion of the afliliated societies, and added that the prospects for the initial season of play were exceptionally bright. The report, which was adopted, traversed_ briefly the facts leading to ihe inauguration of the association and paid tribute to the enthusiastic activities of the secretary (Mr. 0. .f. Davidson), treasurer, (Mr. H. 13. Tullett) and other officers. It was stated there were sufficient teams registered for the commencement of regular friendly games. It had been decided not to hold competitions involving trophies in order that full scope would be given for a fraternal spirit , of play. Messrs. X. C. Sncdden and P. Shaw, representing the Auckland Cricket Association, received a hearty welcome. They gave assurance that their organisation would be pleased to give any assistance for fostering the development of the new body for the encouragement of the same, and suHgested affiliation with the A.C A. would be an advantage. The election of officers resulted:—Patron, Mr. T. B. Clay; president, Mr. W. J. Iloldsworth; vice-presidents, Messrs. H. M. Morgan, W. J. Garrett. A. J. Guy, G. Arnott," 11. J. Fraser, W. Sibun. W. Tongue, S. Takle, Gerrard and Dr. E. H Bryant, Dr. L. G. Drury, Dr. F. IS. Webster, Dr. Hastings, Di\ K. Warnock, Dr. ,T. A. Patterson, Dr. O'Fyffe Lamb, Dr. Pezaro, Dr. W. H. Thomas, Dr. Elame Gurr, with power to add. The control board comprises:—Messrs. W. G. Caddy (chairman). A. Bell (vicechairman), H. Taylor, C. J. Davidson, 11. B. Tullett (re-elected), and A. G. Sibun, J. IT. Webb, J. E. Fitzpatrick and 11. Knnkin; auditors, Messrs. W. A. Walsh, and A. G. Sibun. Satisfactory arrangements have been made for a headquarters ground for the association, and it is expected to officially open the season on October 22 (Labour Day).
