NURSES' MEMORIAL FUND.
A very successful bridge evening was liekl at the Nurses' Home, Mountain lioad, Epsom, last week, to assist the funds of the Nurses' Memorial Fund. The hostesses for the evening were Mr?. A. Kidd, president of the Registered Nurses' Association, Miss Houchcn, honorary treasurer of the memorial fund (Auckland branch), and Miss Patterson, the convener. The prizes, which were for a hidden number, were won by Mrs. Hamblin, Miss Broun, ancl Miss Gott. The dining room and lounge had been tastefully arranged with Iceland poppies, and with the bright frocliing of players presented a very colourful scene. Those present were: Mrs. Kidd, Miss Houohen,. Miss Patterson, Mrs. Ingles, Miss Ildllis, Miss Blcwett, Miss Nutsey, Miss Broun, Miss Lord, Miss Adlington, Miss Brown, Miss A. Donations to the fund wore sent by Miss Cusscn, Miss Ross, Miss Early, Mrs. Malcock, Miss Rose, Miss Bates. Miss ('oniric, Miss Edwards, and Mrs. Todd Smith. At the conclusion of play a very nice supper, for which Miss Houchen and the stall of the club'wore responsible, was served in the lounge. PETER PAN. The crowd of dancers present at the Peter Pan on Saturday were pleased to see in their midst Miss Jean Batten. She was the centre of a liappy party, and wore a frock of lapis blue crepe with gold relief. All the popular dance hits recently released in Auckland were played by Laurl Paddi, and his Famous Players. Daffodils and' jonquils in tall crystal vases made the tables bright and cheerful. NATIONAL RESERVE. ' A meeting of tlies Women's National Reserve was hold on Thursday last at the Y.W.C.A., the president of the reserve, Mrs. F. W. Fitcliett, taking tho chair. Many eases of distress among relatives and dependents of' ex -soldiers were dealt with. Mrs. 11. S. Gulliver, delegate to°the Women's National Council, read a detailed resume of tlie council's activities and the remits. A vote of thanks was passed to the president for her untiring efforts on behalf of the reserve. . STAFF DANCE.
