Restriction on Electric Lamps From Japan. BRITAIN TAKES ACTION. (British Ofllciftl Wireless.) (Received 9.30 a.m.) RUGBY, August 29. The Board of Trade announces that a report from the Import Duties Advisory Committee, dated October 4, 1933, recommending increased duties on electric lamps will be published to-day. The increased imports of these goods in recent years liavo come mainly from Japan. The British Government, after consultation with electric lamp manufacturers in Britain, discussed with representatives of the Japanese Government the question of the imports of electric lamps from that country. As the result of these discussions it has been decided not to give effect at present to the recommendations of the committee, provided that the imports of electric lamps from Japan during the year commencing April 1, 1934, do not exceed certain specified totals.
