AUSTRALIAN PRODUCE Boltbn Grocers to Refuse to Stock Or Sell. COTTON TARIFF REPRISALS. (United P.A.—Elcctric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, August 29. The Bolt on District Grocers anrl Provision Dealers' Association at a special meeting resolved that the association, representing 200 retail grocers, pledges itselt' to refuse to stock or distribute Australian produce till the tariff increases on Lancashire cotton goods are withdrawn.

Bills will be printed and distributed to shopkeepers urging the public not to buy Australian goods. It is intended to placard the whole Xorth of England appealing for support of the boycott. The "Daily Telegraph" Manchester correspondent states that although Lancashire welcomes thu concessions ou Australia's cotton duties, which will mitigate hardships caused by the cancellation of many orders, the feeling against the new duties lias not been appeased. The joint committee of the cotton trade organisation is to meet on Thursday to discuss furtaer action. The boycott movement is gaining strength daily, and unless there is an unexpected development in a few days it is expected that the wholesalers will join the retailers in the boycott. COTTON DUTIES. AUS_ ..ALIAN CONCESSIONS. MELBOURNE, August 29. In connection with the criticism in Lancashire of Australia's cotton duties tlio Minister of Customs, Mr. T. W. White, announced to-day various items on which the Commonwealth Government had decided to grant concessions with a view to obviating hardship. The Minister reiterated that the Government, in fixing the cotton duties, had been guided by the Tariff Board, its inquiry having gone back for years.
