MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD.
Mr. C. M. McCullough presided at a meeting of the Mount Roskill Road Board last evening.
Road Deviation. —The Public Works Department advised that the deviation of Clifton Road through the Hillsboro' Cemetery to Onehunga could be completed. Details were given of the procedure necessary to carry out the work. Second-hand Dealers. — The board, expressed its approval of the Second-hand Dealers' Amendment Bill now before Parliament. The purpose of the bill is to remove from local bodies the power to license second-hand dealers and transfer it to the Magistrate's Court. It was decided to intimate the board's satisfaction to Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. Water Samples.—Mr. A. J. Parker reported that he had found a very slight turbidity in most of the samples of water submitted to him for analysis. Mr. Parker is to be invited to confer with the chairman of the board and waterworks ■ committee in regard to the visible sediment contained in water samples procured in different parts of the district. Registration of Bicycles.—A recommendation that compulsory annual registration of bicycles should be instituted, was contained in a report on the proposed new traffic regulations by the board's bvlaws committee. It was decided to adopt the recommendation and make representations to the Commissioner of Transport.
