PAPAKURA
The fortnightly meeting of the Papakura Town Board was presided over by Mr. H. E McEntee, the chairman. Rates for 1934-35.—The rates for the comjng year were struck and then levied. This year the total rate is 3%d in the £, which is slightly higher than last year, but owing to the new valuation it will be the same in the aggregate. Free Meat.—The Department of Labour notified that the district's share of free meat is now available for the unemployed. The board decided to inform the unemployed associations. Prince Edward Park.—The excavation work in connection with the new sports area in the park is nearly completed. This will enable two games of football to be played at the same time.
