WOOL TRADE. - KEEN BIDDING AT BRISBANE. At the Brisbane wool sales 9644 bales wore offered, the bulk comprising average wools. Competition was very keen and animated, Japan being the chief buyer. Greasy fleece and skirtings showed a rise of 0 per cent on last week's prices. Other greasy sorts had no quotable change. ScQureds met better competition and also showed an upward tendency. Greasy sold .to 16% d, scoured to 27d. The estimated average prices for last week were about 10% d per lb, and between £13 to £14 per bale. . THE PRICE OF GOLD. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, August 27. Gold is quoted at £6 19/4 per ounce. Following is a summary of the fluctuation m the price per ounce of fine gold this year: — Highest price, Feb. 5.700 Lowest price, Jan. 5 .
