WAR FUNDS COUNCIL.
ASSISTING EX-SOLDIERS. PROVISION OF EMPLOYMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The annual meeting of the National War 1"! ids Council decided to authorise the executive to expend up to £15,000 in assisting men suffering from unemployment. It also resolved that further efforts be made to secure a grant from the British Legion. The accounts showed a balance of £136,73.3 as at March 31 last, including trust accounts. The income and expenditure account disclosed that expenditure exceeded income by £12,426. The trust accounts showed an increase of £535, thus leaving a net excess of expenditure of £11,800. Two bequests were reported—£uoG under the will of Frederick Martin, of Christchurch, for blind soldiers, and £400 under the will of Miss Simmonds, of Thames, for wounded and disabled Relief for the vear totalled £16,370, an increase of £2000 over the previous Vear Assistance war. given Imperial, Australian and Canadian men, as well os ex-members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
