IRISH ELECTIONS.
Anti-Government Forces in I The Lead. LABOUR HOLDS BALANCE. (Received 12 noon.) . DUBLIN, July 1. When the figures in the Irish Free State local body elections stood at 700 to 742 in favour of the anti-De Valera forces, Mr. W. T. Cosgrave, ex-President and co-leader with General O'Duffy of the United Ireland party (Fine Gael}, Said the result indicated that _Dc Valera supporters were not only going down, but had lost their majority. He went on: "Yet they had a perfect machine and ten years of experience, while we had not completed the efficiency of our electoral machinery. The Fianna Fail's lack of national spirit and extreme partisanship has discredited the movement." Except in Cork the election count is now complete. Labour can be grouped with the Fianna Fail, but the Fine Gael can rely on only two-thirds of the Independents'.' ' Hence' Labour holds the balance in a definite stalemate. The "Daily Express" city Correspondent states that the Irish Free State is taking a hand in adding to Lancashire's worries by importing large quantities of Japanese printed cottons and manufacturing shirts, which are being landed in Britain at one tad sixpence each.
