PANMURE BOATING- CLUB. ANNUAL PRIZE NIGHT. Tlio twenty-second presentation of prizes of the Panmure Yacht and Boating Club was held ou Saturday evening in the Masonic Hall, Ellerslie, in the presence of a good attendance of members and their lady friends. Mr. S. Wilson, commodore of the club, was supported by Mr. W. J.' Jordan, M.P., patron, Mr. Rothery, president, Mr. A. J. Tobin, vice-commodore, Mr. S. Hamlin, lion. secretary, and a number of old members and representatives from the Otahuhu and several city clubs. Before asking Mr. Jordan to present the prizes, Mr. Wilson said that last year the club had made great progress, both membership and boats having increased. Seven races were held, and one open day, the events being well contested. Their best thanks were due to the donors of jirlzes, and to all who had helped the club along, especially Mr. S. Hamlin, who had been honorary secretary and treasurer since the inception of the club in 1912. Mr. Wilson referred to the continued support of their older members, several having joined the club in its first season, including Messrs. V. Andrew, Geo. Vause, T. Kilgour and C. Kay, who were present.

Mr. Jordan congratulated the officers and members on the success of the past season and the interest taken in the club by residents of Panmure, shown by the large attendance. The sport of yachting was good training, and while lie hoped not, yet it might prove helpful if war clouds gathered in the South Pacific. When better times were assured New Zealand might send a boat to compete for the America Cup. Mr. Jordan also mentioned the long service of Mr. Hamlin, saying that Mr. Hamlin and the Panmure Club were synonymous.

The principal winners were:—Club Cup, for highest points in season, Mr. L. Wilkinson's Pioneer, 59pts, Mr. R. E. Fenton's Tul was second with 43pts. Mr. L. Spear's Winsome won the Hugh Fenton Cup, with Mr. T. Kilgour's Shamrock second. Other prize winners were: Messrs. A. Walker's Rahiri, J. R. Morgan's Surprise, D. Vause's Waitangl, Gillies and McDell's Cyclone, V. A. Heads' Phyllis H., L. Kershaw's Sea Hiker, J. McDonald's Kowhai, N. Ilainon's Anahera, and G. and K. Reid's Allies. The launch winners were: Mr. S. Wilson's Tamaki, Mr. Grace's Lizzie G., and Mr. L. Tunnage's Waimea. The raco for the lady skipper was won by Allies, sailed by Mrs. Walker, Tui, sailed by Miss Betty Fenton, was second, and Anahera, sailed by Miss Irene Dun third. A special donation was made to Mr. L. Wilkinson, who had built the first boat of the Panmure River 18ft restricted class.

Life member's certificates were presented to Mrs. \V. R. Kay and Messrs. Geo. Vausc, T. Kilgour, V. J. Andrew and L. White. As each one received their certificate i'rom Mr. Jordan, Mr. Hamlin gave a brief resume of their work for the club. Mr. Rothery presented Mr. Wilson with the commodore's flag on behalf of the committee. After supper dancing was continued till a lata hour.
