RIFLE SHOOTING.
EMPIRE MINIATURE CONTEST. WELLINGTON, Sunday. A team from the Wellington Miniature Rifle Association shot for the B.S.A. miniature rifle competition yesterday. Out of a possible of 4000 the unofficial total of the team was 3925. The official London marking will not be known for about four months. The B.S.A. Challenge Cup is competed for annually by all counties, provinces and States in the Empire. Last year Suffolk won with 3940, and Canterbury (New Zealand) was fifth with 3931. WHANGAREI CLUB. The Whangarel Miniature Rifle Club held a shoot on Friday evening for the Fisher Shield, the trophy being won by W. Ford with a score of 97, 6—103. Other Rood scores were: —Miss Finnegan, 95, 7—102 ; T. Hill, 98, 3—101; M. Skinner, 91, 10—101; R. Jennings, 97, 3 —100; W. Norris, 99. ser—99 ; J. Courtney, 95, 4—99; Miss Borelinm, SO. 13—99: A. D. Jack, 90, 2 —OS; S. C. Withers, 97, scr—97 ; E. A. Higgins, 97, scr—97; S. C. Wells, 97, scr —97. The A grade Buckley Rooster was won by T. Hill, who defeated the holder, M. K. Stewart, by 9S points to 91. The B grade Buckley Rooster was retained by H. W. Pavies, who defeated Miss E. Langmuir by S7 points to 77.
