EMBALMED BODY.

BROUGHT FROM PANAMA. The embalmed body of the late second engine fr of the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer lonic was landed at Auckland this morning from the Tairoa, and will be taken to Wellington by a special railway van.

When the lonic was nearing Panama on her last trip to England, having left Wellington on March 7, Mr. J. Liddle, second engineer, was taken seriously ill, and at Panama was transferred to the hospital, where he died. It is understood that Mrs. Liddle desired the body to be returned to Wellington, and the Tairoa was the first convenient ship to pass through Panama en route to New Zealand.
