MUSIC FESTIVAL.
REVIVAL IN AUCKLAND. Efforts arc tieinpc made by the Auckland Society of Musicians to revive the animal musical competitions festival which has lapsed since 1929. With the belief that public competitions are an excellent means of discovering latent tnlcut and encouraging the stuflv of music, the society intends to hold n threedays' festival in the Lewis Endv Hall on Außiist 20, 21 and 22. This will be f-1-liworl b> - ft 'i°monstrat.ion concert. Mr. H. Temple White, the Wellington conductor and teacher. has been engasred as solo judfrc. Provision has been made for thirty classes, including one for junior choirs of 15 to 30 voices. Entire financial responsibility for the festival has been assumed by the Societv of Musicians. Assistance has been given bv three ci f v music firms, who have offered to nrov'de medals and otlzps for the ehamnionshi"* and some other classes. In th" remainder. mnnev nrizos are offered. A challpu"'" shield line been presented for the choir competition.
