MR. A. J. H. WATKINS.
! A well-known Auckland business man in former years, Mr. Artlmr John Ilcnry Watkins, of Green Lane Road, Rernuera, lias ilied at the age of 87 years. TTe arrived in Auckland bv the sailing ship Ida Zeigler, in ISO 7. and two years later wa-s married to Miss Pritchard, in old St. Paul's Church, Emily Place, by Archdeacon Lloyd. Mr. and Mrs. Watkins celebrated the diamond jubilee of their wedding, and in 1030 the death of Mrs. Watkins occurred. Mr. Watkins was for 20 years a member of the staff of 11. B. Morton, Ltd., general merchants, of Customs Street. lie next obtained a position on the stall' of the Colonial Sugar Refining Co., which he held for another 20 years. Upon giving up that, Mr. Watkins lived for some years at Waiuku, and finally retired and came to reside in Remuera. Mr. Watkins is survived by the following children: Mrs. M. Billiilgton (Heme Ray), Miss A. Watkins (Remuera) and Mr. A. E. Watkins (Mission Bay, Kohimarania).
