"SATISFACTORY."

AGREEMENT FINALISED. HISTORY OF NEGOTIATIONS. "The arrangement seems to be fairly satisfactory," said Dr. It. Tracy Inglis, Dominion president of the New Zealand Obstetrical Society, this morning, commenting on tho news from Dunedin. "Wo hope that the work of building tho hospital will bo expedited as much as possible, as it is needed for teaching purposes." The success of tho negotiations, too, would enable the Otago Board to take advantage of the offer of the Dunedin Savings Bank. The president traced the negotiation for tho hospital. Originally, _he explained, the Government had promised tho hospital, and money had been collected through the instrumentality of tho Obstetrical Society, mainly from women's organisations throughout New Zealand. Then arose the unfortunate discussion as to the suitability of th 3 site between tho Otago Board and the University medical school. On top of that, the slump came, and the Government had then said that no money was available for tho purpose. Subsequently the medical school and the Otago Hospital Board had agreed as to the site, and the Government had mado its offer. Negotiations had been proceeding, and now were satisfactorily concluded. Tho site finally chosen was a good one, Dr. Inglis added, reiterating his pleasure that the. hospital had become a realisation, instead of a project for some time in the future.
