INQUIRY FOR LAND.
WAIKATO CONFIDENCE TRANSACTIONS INCREASE. LARGE SUMS AVAILABLE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Ready inquiry for land in the Waikato in recent months is a promising sign of returning confidence among investors. A local firm of stock and station agents reports more than double the volume of business than was transacted last year. Several deals involving holdings of from 200 acres upwards have been finalised, properties suitable for mixed farming being most in demand.
An encouraging feature has been the large amount of ready cash available. In a number of cases sums ranging from £3000 and £4000 have .been offered and paid as deposits.
While inquiry for farms has been good, there has been little call for dairying land as compared with the previous demand, the inference being that investors are waiting for the findings of the Dairy Commission. "There are men around with large sums of money available, but many are not prepared to invest at this juncture," said a land agent in Hamilton.
Land agents are experiencing a fair demand for houses for rental, and available houses are commanding good figures.
