RENTS AND VALUATIONS.
May I endorse a letter by "Solicitor" in recent issue of your paper. I. too, was f.irtuliate in securing some reduction; even then my valuation iis liiprli. The fact remain.- that "rental value" for a period of three years is an unfair method for rating, as the writer could easily prove. That the Act requires alterations is apparent to anyone. Either "improved" or "unimproved'' value should ha definitely .stated, and 110 option given to valuer or assessment court to decide this. Also appeal to the Supreme Court should be allowed. This would result in the valuer being more, reasonable when one does object. If the "rental value" is to remain, then it should be. Fixed (as tlie council iixes the rates) vearlv.
