"DON JUAN" FILM.
ANOTHER "PRIVATE LIFE."
After months of careful preparation in all departments, the first scenes of "The Private Life of Don Juan" have been completed at Elstree. Douglas Fairbanks is delighted at playing before the camera after a long interval and in a role which promises to be the most interesting he has ever undertaken. In consequence of the repeated tests, make-up trials, rehearsals and costume inspections the work proceeded quickly and smoothly and two scenes had been disposed of by early afternoon. The opening scene shows the interior of Don Juan's house. The women of Seville are clamouring to see the famous lover, while inside the house there is a discussion between the masseur (Clifford Heatherley) and the valet (Melville Cooper) as to how the news of Don Juan's arrival in the town has spread so rapidly. Alexander Korda is directing. Georges Perinal, of "Henry VIII." fame, is again responsible for the lighting, while Osmond Borrodaile, also of "Henry VIII.," is behind the camera. The art director, Vincent Korda, who has already set a new standard in film settings, has again produced a scene of remarkable beauty. A further addition to the cast, which includes Benita Hume, Merle Oberon and Elsa Lancliester, is James Mason, who will play the part of Roderigo, the handsome young Spaniard, whose wish it is to become «* pupil of Don Juan.
