LEFT-OVER PASTRY.

Left-over scraps of pastry can be used up by making date and nut wafers to serve as an afternoon tea biscuit. Roll tho pastry as thinly as possible. Spread mashed dates or figs over one half of the pastry and cover with the other half. Press down firmly and cut into diamond and finger shapes with a sharp knife. Cook in a good oven for eight or ten minutes. The biscuits can be given a •'frosted" appearance by sprinkling them with sugar before cooking, or glazed with milk dr white of egg when half-cooked. Dates and chopped nuts mixed together make a delicious filling.
