PROPOSED ROAD IN DOMAIN.
I am disappointed that your columns are not filled with letters protesting against the proposal to make a new carriageway into our first recreation ground. Personally," I delight to walk up or down the path skirting the hospital reserve on one side and the native bush on the other, for it is not only beautiful, but also peaceful, because there is no road for wheel traffic—noisy motors and motor bikes. Long may it be so, but not if citizens don't wake up and protect their property from vandals who want everything for the motor; and it's a fine noise they would make tearing up that steep hill. Dunedin set a better example, for when it was proposed to extend the Castle Street line of tramway through the Botanical Gardens strong protest compelled the council to turn the corner and carry the line at a right angle for two blocks to junction -with the main line in George Street, and that was for a tramway—not a mere additional road for motor cars. EX-DUNEDIN.
