TAKAPUNA COUNCIL.
LAST NIGHT'S MEETING. The Takapuna Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. J. Guiniven, presiding. Vacancies on Council.—The town clerk was instructed to make the necessary arrangements to hold a poll to fill the two vacancies on the council caused by the death of Mr. M. L. Wilkius and the resignation of Mr. .J. Waddell. A motion expressing appreciation of the late Air. Wilkins' services was passed. Walters llill.—On the motion of the Mayor a former resolution to concrete Walters Hill was rescinded. It was decided instead to tar seal the road. Public Utility.—The Mill'orcl Progressive Association, represented by Messrs. (J. 11. M. Wills and P. S. Geo, presented a petition signed by over a hundred residents. requesting the replacement of the convenience in Dolison Avenue. Air. Wills said that it had long passed its period of usefulness. Mrs. Bloinfield said that it was hoped to have a ladies' rest room, which could ultimately be used as a Plunket room, and suggested that the present men's site be used. The Mayor said that the money for the work wa« available. He would like (o see the work sanctioned. Tt was decided that the matter bo shelved for the time being, the Mayor, Mrs. Bloinfield and Mr. W. 11. Hall dissenting.
