MISS JEAN BATTEN.
ARRIVES ON MONDAY. CIVIC RECEPTION PLANNED. 'PLANES TO MEET LINER, Three Auckland Aero Club 'planes will circle over the Union Steam Sliip Company's liner Aorangi when she arrives in Auckland on Monday morning from Sydney with Miss Jean Batten 011 board. The Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, sent, a cable to Miss Batten at Sydney this morning intimating that she would be accorded a civic reception on Monday at 12.i10 p.m., and asking her to cable or radio confirmation. The Aorangi is scheduled to leave Sydney at 13 p.m. to-day. The newspaper women and womenwriters of Auckland propose to entertain Miss Batten at a dinner, probably early next week. The fixture depends upon Miss Batten's programme in New Zealand. The subscription list opened at the Town Ilall to give citizens 'an opportunity to subscribe to a fund to provide Miss Batten with a testimonial will be closed 011 Saturday. The Auckland Aero Club has arraiiyd for Miss Batten to be accommodated as their guest at the Grand Hotel. Miss Batten has cabled lier acceptance of this offer of hospitality.
