The play over the last nine holes gave Howey .Walker thu win. MAUN G AKIEKIE CLUB. # There was a large entry for the bogev matches at One Tree Hill, the course and greens being in ideal order. Points arc scored according to the margin by which the holes are won, and tho total is added to the player's bogey handicap. The competition was divided into two grades. The A grade was won by R. B. Carr with a card of 32, 6—38. The other best cards were : J. Galloway, jun., 28, 9— 37; J. Carnachan 30. 6—36: N. A. Naismirli 28, S—36 ; P. Harrison 28, S—36; J. H. Goyder 2S. 8—36. The B grade was won by R. E. Alpe with a score of 25. 11—36. Other cards were: R. J. Truscott 20, 14—34 ; N. B. McLcan 21, 11—32; J. A. Crum 20—12, 32; and A. A. Tysoe, 15—14—32. SILK BEATS BRINSDEN. FIVE KIRK CUP MEN ENGAGED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) MASTERTON, this day. Tho Wairarapa golf championship tournament opened on Saturday on the Masterton links. Some notable competitors are taking part, including five KirkWindeyer Cup players, all of whom, besides two other scratch players, qualified. Among the supprisw* was the defeat of Brinsden by Silk aM that of J. L. Black by a local player, Campbell-Heard. The semi-tinals scheduled for to-day were :—Hornabrook (Masterton) v. Guy Home (Hutt), Horton (Masterton) v. Silk (Wanganui). Golf of a good standard has been witnessed. as was evidenced by the fact that Hornabrook, with rounds of 70 and 71. headed the list of those who qualified, his score being 14 strokes better than that oC last year's leader.
