AUCKLAND SAILORS' HOME
The 49th annual report of tlie Auckland Sailors' Homo states that the woi'k was made possible, by a munificent bequest, of the late Mr. 'Edward C'ostley_, and thousands of men had enjoyed the amenities of the home for nearly half a century. It had filled an urgent need in Auckland for sailors discharged at the port, and waiting for another ship. During the year there was an attendance of 4253, which was a reduction of one-third upon those who stayed at the home during the previous year. The council is hoping for a more [liberal response from the Auckland public Inext year .to assißt-'with-the financing of 7 the-iiigtitation. v ■
